We don’t know. However in 2001, pigs sold for an average of $3,500. The range of prices was roughly $1,000 to $30,000.
In 2001 there was a public pig viewing prior to the auction. Will there be one this year?
This year, the public viewing took place May 19th and 20th at Western Bridge gallery.
If I am unable to attend on October 12, is it possible to do on-line bidding?
Live, interactive, real-time bidding, complete with audio will be available. Advance registration is required. To do so, please visit www.bidspotter.com and click on “How to bid.” Bidders new to BidSpotter should click on “Register to bid” and follow the instructions. Once registered, you will be offered a choice of events - select “Pigs on Parade”. All pigs featured in the live auction will be listed on the BidSpotter site the week prior to October 12 for preview. On October 12, interactive bidders can follow everything that is happening on the auction floor from the BidSpotter site.
The Market Foundation will be happy to assign a volunteer to bid on your behalf if you are unable to attend. Our representative will attempt to purchase the pig(s) of your choice for the lowest price possible and never for more than the top amount you indicate.
To place bids, please use the telephone/absentee bid form and return it by Wednesday, October 10 at 5:00 PM PST. Be sure to accurately record the pig names, pig artists, and the top price you are willing to pay for each pig of the telephone number where you wish to be contacted when your desired pig is for sale.
